State of the Scribe & The Muse

I’ve been long away.

After stating the obvious, I think my reasons for having been so far away for so long is school, work and the day to day concerns. I am finishing up the next to last semester before I transfer to the University of Iowa for my Bachelors. Yes, I am still in communications / cinema arts. With all of that, it has been very hard to write any of my muses, not just here on LJ but also on DW and even Pan Historia.

The Muses, Fanny, Caroline, Jocelyn, Melek, Archy and the rest do speak, but they feel muffled in the face of the day to day. My dog, Marissa has been dragging out my book, “The Writer’s Block” off the shelf repeatedly. I think she is trying to emphasize that writing is good for me and for everything and everyone else around me. I haven’t been entirely idle. I have written a bit more on the Sekhmet book and added more text to the Rune book. If I can figure out all the bells and whistles on Scrivener and how to get things formatted successfully to KDP, I should have one or the other or both available for Kindle over on Amazon. The fiction, however, is a bit slower going. I still hunger to do a piece set in 17th Century France – as Lee and I had discussed. Her schedule and mine, however, have not been cooperative.

Writer’s Muses will be going on, and I am sorry that it has been so neglected. I have been going down the list of prompts and posting them over to DW and to Pan. The next few weeks should be interesting. I have a lot of stuff to get out that has been backed up for some time! πŸ˜‰

  1. It’s good to see you back around on LJ! Glad that RL is going well, and hope it calms down a bit for you.

I have to say I’m happy to hear Writer’s Muses will be back…I’ve missed a good prompt comm, especially as a certain demon has been feeling bored recently.

    • I don’t know how much I would say that life is “going well”, or just simply ‘going’! πŸ˜‰ Thanks for that thought. I hope it settles down, too.

I have missed doing the prompts and all of my comods seem to have also had RL issues. It could also be that I have not been on AIM very much. Trillian updated to some ridiculous web based interface and it is of the suck! As for the Demon: That is a dangerous proposition in and of itself! πŸ˜‰

I have several of my muses that miss several of yours. πŸ™‚

      • Hehe..I know what you mean. At least it sounds like it’s going well with the transfer to a Bachelors program! πŸ™‚

WM was also one of the best prompt comms. I try charloft, but so many of their prompts are…ugh (it’s why I gave up on their drabbles this summer). I really want to get back to doing more fic writing and need the motivation. Yes, he’s trying to stir trouble in my head…never a good sign. πŸ™‚

        Same here! Especially see icon!

      • Thank you for that. We shall see what happens. I am thinking of University of Iowa, which is fairly well respected in the industry, and then there is Lora’s College – a Catholic University, but their programme is more hands-on, and their students hit the ground running. One of my former classmates from where I am now has been already been on three film crews doing various things; two in FL and one in France for a documentary, so I may go with that if I can get adequate scholarsphip money to do so. Not that I necessarily want to go to a private university or one that is religiously afilliated, of course.

Thank you again! *blush* I try Charloft, too, but my muses just sort of look at their prompts and yawn. I love their structure of one type of prompt per day, but I wonder how much consideration goes into what they do. Bigger comm does not mean better, methinks.

Oh….if you or Stelios could hear the purr that just went off in my head at the mere sight of him in that icon! Others have tried to pair with Caroline in other forums and she is just very ‘meh’ about them. The only one with a slight glimmer for her was Archy from Rocknrolla -but then I am the one writing him! Suffice it to say that it just isn’t the same! She truly misses the Spartan warrior. Perhaps we could let them play again sometime. πŸ˜‰

Edit: Have you seen Fassy’s latest yet, “A Dangerous Method”? I heard both good and bad. I would love to see him as Jung and Viggo Mortensen as Freud. It looks good anyway.

      • Ooh, one more thing! I just saw this on FB this AM. It reminded me of a certain Demon; though I suspect his wings are a bit more erm….singed! πŸ˜‰

      • The private university sounds interesting, but you’ll do great no matter which one you go to. At the moment, my youngest is going through college applications. It’s all totally new to me as I went an unconventional route to a degree…and the process is so different in the UK anyway.

Yeah, my muses have that problem with their prompts and they get so repititive. I really enjoyed working on the drabbles…I find it a great challenge to get that 100 words, but the prompts! My muses were thoroughly uninspired…nothing applied to them.

Oooh…Archy! My second favourite from Rocknrolla! And he really misses his French Fae. Perhaps we should…he hasn’t really been doing much (except getting very, very annoyed with the situation in Greece!). Maybe come up with an adventure for them? We’ll have to talk about it after the holidays. πŸ™‚

No, I haven’t. I’m hoping that it’s going to play over here, at least at the cinema in Luxembourg. It does look good…as does “Shame”.

Oh, I like that! I think that’s definitely pre-Fall :D. His wings aren’t even singed but just stumps

      • An adventure sounds good! Carline is just happy inside my cranium at the prospect. The storyline that I came up with over on Pan was that Ian, Caroline’s manager got blown up in Caroline’s car. She meets up with Archy at the funeral, they figure that it was the Mexican cartels, the Zetas, because Ian was up to his neck in debt and favors to them and hadn’t paid. I made Archy literally Lenny Cole’s brother – and then sort of the step-uncle of Johnny Quid. yeah, I know…it was a stretch. πŸ˜‰ The austerity measures sound perfect. I could almost see them arguing about whether or not to go to France. I get the feeling that Stelios wouldn’t really go for that.

I saw this picture online and thought it would be pretty cool to include in the prompts for WM.

If I dont chat with you before, have a great holiday!

      • Oh yes, great picture!

That sounds inteersting, and Archy being Johnny Quid’s step-uncle is a cool premise. The only other thing that’s been happening with Stelios is that I’ve mentioned him helping out Hsu in fighting the Watchers.

You have a great holiday too! I’m spending it in England this year…but afterward we’ll have to see what we can come up with for the muses! πŸ™‚

      • Psssst!

In case you hadn’t seen it yet, I wanted to give you a heads-up on the latest prompt set. As promised, I did include the aforementioned picture, under Choice G – for Greek! πŸ˜‰

        Prompt Set # 135

Hope you, your family and respective muses all have a very Happy Christmas while you are in England! We will be thinking about you on this side of the pond!

      • Re: Psssst!

I hadn’t seen them! Thanks…I’m going to have to check my settings to get WM on my flist as it isn’t showing up.

And you and yours as well!!
