There was a time in my life when I swore to all of the powers that be that I would never allow myself to marry.

Talk about something you inherited. (It could be an object, a physical attribute, a belief, etc.)

inherited a great many things from a great many people. Perhaps most notably I inherited my Fae blood from my father. Gan Ceanach, was a dark orUnseelie Prince. . That Sidhe blood that runs in my veins is probably most responsible for my occasional bent toward outright cruelty. I should be grateful to my father , since that Fae blood has given me an ’imortality’ of a kind.

The one thing that I am most loath to admit to is my inheritance of drive, ambition and unwavering relentlessness. For this I owe the very woman whose throne I usurped, but only after I flung her life and her very existence into the abyss of Oblivion. Morgienne, once the High Lady of the Fortunate Island, from the time that she declared herself my foster mother, saw to my education and made certain that I was worthy of her. I was schooled in weaponry and battle just as enthusiastically as I was in the arts of decorum and diplomacy. Both skills were important. I learned the laws of Power, for I was to commit them to memory. Believe me when I tell you that I did and I was an apt pupil with regard to that particular subject. I sometimes wonder if was her way of assuaging her guilt at having been the instrument of my mother’s death. Certainly the woman was incapable of showing any sort of affection.

In the end I paid Morgienne in full with interest for her time and trouble. When the time was right and as payment for the murder of my mother, I gave Morgienne a loving (albeit poisoned) cup at her bedside. Only moments after I watched her life ebb from her eyes, I declared myself High Lady of the Fortunate Island and ceded to myself all land and authority thereof. I watched her funeral pyre burn in the Temple courtyard, standing in the exact same place as she and I had watched that of my mother years before. At the very same moment her name was being stricken from all monuments and record bearing her name, I had wrested the scepters of power from the hands of the woman who had been my greatest benefactor as well as my greatest enemy.

What is the lamest excuse you have ever given for something you’ve done?

don’t know why I should deign to answer such an insulting question. Lamest excuse? I make no excuses. I need none. Excuses and apologies are for the weak. Mistakes in life happen because the world is just too damned unpredictable. Anyone with any sort of real power to wield does not make excuses. They are very careful to make their mistakes in such a fashion that even those with the sharpest of eyes are left to wonder if the so-called mistake was not intentional in the first place. An excuse or worse, an apology for having made one, can prove fatal, and so they are avoided. If you apologize, you will be judged by lesser and greater persons as to your intentions or your competence. You must never leave room for doubt on that count, I assure you.

An excuse satisfies no one; therefore you should never give them. Nor should you ever under any circumstance accept them.

If….

f is one of those words that too many people spend their time wallowing in. If only I had done or not done this thing or another; If only I were dealt a better hand in life, etc.. What a waste of time and energy! So rather than wallow in those thing that could have or even should have been, I find it better to look at the word ‘if’ as something situational. Each situation is different, and in every case one must be prepared.

If you hesitate, a lion will come and think of you as prey. There are only two kinds of people in the world, the eaters and the eaten. If you don’t want to be eaten, then be decisive.

If you live with but half a heart, then start digging your grave.

If you mock the power of love it will torment you mercilessly.

If you do not live according to your dreams then you are condemned to live out those of others.

If you arrange that you speak, do so that it is like a musical composition. Others tend to appreciate such things and tend to be swept away by its passion.

If heaven did not care, we would all be alike.

If you find a void fill it. Nature abhors a vacuum.

If you make yourself low in the eyes of others, you will be walked upon.

If your own emotions are not under your control, then they are under the control of others. Don’t allow anyone that power which should be yours alone.

And perhaps most importantly,

If I had done what everyone advised me to do, I would have been dead long ago.
