Lazy summer days and pleasant company

I’faith things are different for me these days. I have found myself enjoying the company of late of Jareth, king_of_goblins. It is quite refreshing to have someone to talk to on equal footing. Not even captainbarbossa has ever addressed me thus. I think I have been too far away, too long away from the Fortunate Isle and the realms of magic. My interactions with Jareth remind me very much of who I am and a world view that few if any share outside of myself. I am delighted for this small, yet most welcome change.

  1. Barbossa has heard word of Fanny’s recent dealings with the Goblin King, and though he’s done his damnedest to dwell on more important matters, the fact remains that his jealousy has been provoked. Not that he deceives himself into believing this to be Fanny’s intention — far from it. She has always associated with whom she will, and because she is not the sort of woman easily dismissed for expressing a mind of her own, Barbossa tolerates her entertaining consorts besides himself. Fanny has shown the same sort of tolerance for his own frequent dalliances, which admittedly are often with creatures far her lesser; it is difficult for the Captain to find a female he can respect to any small degree, and they both know it.

Thus in spite of the volatility of their relationship, Barbossa would normally make no bones about Fanny’s newfound company. Along with the logic of preserving a relative understanding between them, he likes to be clear that he does not care whether she takes another lover, even in the rare instance where he does. But in this particular case, he is utterly lacking the patience required for their usual games. He approaches her with a petulant sneer, almost boyish in his irritation.

It is quite refreshing to have someone to talk to on equal footing…

“I’m right glad you’ve found a gent who indulges ye in such footing, dear Fanny. After all, I suppose there are some as care to make use of ye, in the rarity you’re not flat on your back.”

    • Fanny notes Captain Barbossa’s ill-mood and regards him wiht a calm eye. She has seen such reactions in the Captain before, but thankfully, it has been rarely. The truth of the matter is, that she has missed him far more than she dares to admit, even as foul and insulting as he is on this particular occassion. She knows, however, that admitting such a thing to Barbossa would be tantamount to admitting defeat and granting permission to him to continue his abuse.

“I’m right glad you’ve found a gent who indulges ye in such footing, dear Fanny. After all, I suppose there are some as care to make use of ye, in the rarity you’re not flat on your back.”

Fanny pretends that his words do not sting, but in fact they have. Jareth, , is himself as kin to her and outside of the Captain, she has few friends with whom to relate – and there are even fewer still that understand her Fae nature.

“Ah, a voice from the Great Beyond is heard at last! And where has your own booted-foot been of late then, my dear Captain Beast? Be assured, Sir, my entertaining the Goblin King, had more to do with magic and less to do with whatever thorn now seems to be lodged beneath your own saddle blanket. I don’t altogether know of its origin, but I think that I can guess.”

Fanny rises from where she has been sittting and stands before Barbossa. Her gaze is unwavering as her eyes meet his, and even though she thinks that she sees him grind his jaw, she comes closer to him.

“I am as mercenary as you when it comes to some things, Captain. My alliances in the realms of magic being chief among them. You know very well the types of bargains I make and the devices I use.”

Fanny takes on a different tack, before the Captain can make a well placed remark about her bargains with the Goblin King. While her coquettery may work with others, she knows full well that such methods are lost on Captain Barbossa.

“Now….there were some matters that we did not finish when I saw you last – and you did not yet answer my question that I posed to you.”

Fanny leans forward and whispers against his chest.

      * “Ha Kochren ha tai-alal, Amour?”

      * (Are you prepared to give everything, Love?”
